BSc (Hons) in Nursing
The B.Sc. (Honours) in Nursing degree programme is a 3 year course and prepares a student to become a nurse qualified to practice in a variety of settings in private healthcare settings.
AIMS OF THE PROGRAM
Produce knowledgeable competent nurses with clear critical thinking skills who are caring, motivated, assertive and well-disciplined responding to the changing needs of profession, healthcare delivery system and society.
Prepare graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses in providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services in hospital or public health settings.
Prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations within the scope of practice, protect the rights of individuals and groups and conduct research in the areas of nursing practice and apply evidence-based practice.
Prepare nurses to assume role of practitioner, teacher, supervisor and manager in clinical or public health settings.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Students should have either of the following qualifications
Minimum 3 passes for science subjects including Biology as a subject for G.C.E. Advanced Level examination conducted by the Department of Examinations, Sri Lanka.
Minimum 3 passes for science subjects including Biology/ Human Biology as a subject for one of the following examinations:
G.C.E Advanced Level examination conducted by Pearson Edexcel, UK (London A/L)
International Advanced Level examination conducted by Pearson Edexcel, UK.
G.S.E Advanced Level examination conducted by Cambridge International Examinations, UK.
Completion of any other foreign university-affiliated foundation programme (*Subject to the approval of program director)
AND
English requirement (IELTS 6.0 or equivalents such as internationally recognised qualifications)
